I’ve been thinking about this for several days.  This Miss America Pageant runner up controversy that’s been on the news and talk shows for days now.  At first, I really did not  pay much attention about it because I really don’t care for pageants.   However, after reading about it and seeing the videos and editorials, I’ve begun to to take great offense about the way a contestant was treated by a judge and by the Miss America pageant officials.

The Controversy over the Miss USA  Pageant started when a contestant is asked a loaded politically incorrect question by a contemptible vile judge who should have never been a judge at this pageant.   I thought the Miss USA was about the United States of America, our values, our desires, our beliefs.   Apparently, it’s not.

What got me thinking was what one of the Judges posted on YouTube about the answer given to one of the contestants, Carrie Prejean.  Apparently, the judges and the Pageant, were looking for politically correct answers and not the honest opinions of the contestants.

Just listen to the diatribe this worm of a person posted.

The opinions and rants of an angry vulgar homosexual picayune is in a word, Intolerance.

Apparently, Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., aka Perez Hilton is offended by the answer to his question.  She’s not politically correct enough for this clowns approval.  This vile piece of protoplasm thinks the answer is offensive.  HOW SO?

She answered the question honestly and true to her values!!!

Free Speech is a Civil Right in this country, and it is protected by the Constitutional First Amendment.  Marriage is not a Civil Right, it is not even in the Constitution.  If some States in this country decide to allow same sex marriage, then that’s their prerogative.  Live with your decisions.  If a State, like California, passes Proposition 8 , a ban against gay marriage, then that is that states right by the lawful decision of its voters.

Marriage is not a civil right, it is neither a requirement nor a prerequisite for government approval.  It is a bond between two people, a man and a woman, based on their desire to procreate or just be together.  If two people of the same sex want to cohabit together, then so be it.  There’s no law against it.

If you ask a question, don’t be offended by the answer, and even then, do not publicly excoriate that person.  You lose all your credibility.  If that answer doesn’t meet your expectations, then move on to something else.

What makes the things worse is the Pageant officials tried to get the contestant to apologize for her answer.

Maybe the contest should be renamed, The Miss Politically Correct America.

It is rain or is it tears?

How sad is it that someone cannot express their honest belief about traditional marriage without being criticized for that belief.  Criticized in such a vile contemptible way.   That if same sex marriage is to be forced upon us who believe that traditional marriage is between a man and a woman, then why are we not entitled to our beliefs?  Our Traditions.  We are not intolerant, like that judge was in the video.  Call people names and express hatred, like that judge did in the video.  Neither do we prohibit others from their opinions and lifestyles, unless it is against the law.   Don’t confuse the point.

This was just hatred of those who consider marriage is between and man and a woman.

It’s easy to see who the real bigot is.

Would you buy a car from Obama?

No Government Cars

Would you buy a car from the government?   That’s the latest offer proposed by General Motors. In order to pay back their government loan, oh, I meant our tax dollars loan.  The government doesn’t have any money, because it has our money, our tax dollars.  Our Money!  They gave a bunch of  “our” money, almost 25 Billion Dollars, to General Motors as a bailout so General Motors wouldn’t go bankrupt.  Which we, the American People,  did not authorize as loan this size or this risky.

GM said in a news release that it will ask the government to take 50 percent of its common stock in exchange for canceling half the government loans to the company as of June 1.

I didn’t want my tax money used to bailout General Motors, neither do I want to own General Motors stock.  If I wanted to own general Motors stock, I would buy one of there vehicles.  But I will never, ever, purchase a general Motors vehicle every again.  Burned too many times by General Motors and now they want me, the tax payer, to exchange stock for repaying my money?

NO, NO, NO!!!

Say goodbye to your money America.  Your taxpayer money, stolen by the government, is going down the drain.  Neither a bankruptcy, nor a unholy alliance between government and private industry will bring that money back.  Either way, the loss is in one big bankruptcy ruling by a judge, or a slow drain of tax payer money over time driven by the government.

And what of the UAW, the Auto Workers Union?  What will they gain?  What will they lose?  Will the President bail out General Motors to save the UAW with taxpayer money?  Will the UAW members now become workers of the government?  Will the UAW be subject to standards and practices of government employment rules?

Will the UAW continue to price themselves out of the market?

What kind of automobiles can we expect will be be produced by the government?  What kind of marketing will the government use to sell these vehicles?   Will the government impose design standards?  How will those government standards define the next generation of  General Motors vehicles?

I wonder what kind of advertisements will come about with this new car company?

GM is living on $15.4 billion in government loans and faces a June 1 deadline to restructure and get more government money. If the restructuring doesn’t satisfy the government, the company could go into bankruptcy protection.

Don’t worry!  The money Angel will save GM!

Before we flush all of what’s left of our money down the wishing well of Global Warming, a real debate needs to be heard.   Do we want a rush to fix a perceived problem before we understand it?  Look at what happened when they told us we have to save the banks NOW!   We could not wait, we had to act now.  Billions of dollars were spent and wasted away.  We had to bail out General Motors, now they are going into bankruptcy.  All that money the government gave to General Motors, our tax dollars, are gone.

Is America heading towards fascism?  It’s a question that every American should be asking themselves.   We have a governmental system with complete power.  A Main Stream Media that suppresses opposition and criticism of the Obama administration .  A Congress that is regimenting all industry and commerce.  A President that emphasizes aggressive nationalism and often criticizes America when abroad.  This pretty much meets the definition of what fascism means.  Or does it?  Let’s see some examples of current events:

Department of Home Land Security (DHS) released a report about potential Right Wing Extremist that may cause Man Made Disasters in the homeland.

In a footnote in the report, right-wing extremism was defined as hate-motivated groups and movements, such as hatred of certain religions, racial or ethnic groups. It went on to say, “It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.“

The intelligence assessment issued to law enforcement last week said some military veterans could be susceptible to extremist recruiters or commit lone acts of violence.

Are they taking about domestic terrorism?   Oh wait, that’s now called Man Made Disasters by DHS.   U.S. Soldiers returning from Iraq or Afghanistan, as possible recruits, for what?  What an insult to our enlisted men and women of the military.  So, if you are either a Pro Life person, a anti illegal immigration person, or a returning active duty military soldier, you could be  a possible Man Made Disaster.

First lets consider the Tax Time Tea Parties that took place all over the country.  Here in Hilo, there were over a hundred people that came out to protest.  There were more Tea Parties all over Hawai’i:  Lihu’e on Kaua’i, Kahalui on Maui, Honolulu on O’Ahu, and on the Big Island Kona and Hilo.  Hundreds of people showed up and expressed their displeasure with the government spending of our money.

Remember that Joe HairPlug Biden, our Vice President, said it’s patriotic to pay higher taxes.

With the exception of  Fox News, most of the other news outlets either ignored the events and played it down, or tried to discredit the message by belittling the 1st Amendment right to demonstrate through insults and shouting down  protesters.  Just listen to this CNN reporter that injected her opinion on government spending and tried to shame the protester who was just demonstrating his Constitution right to demonstrate.

If she is a journalist, then who cares about her opinion?   A journalist is supposed to be objective and balanced in reporting events.  But she interjects her opinion by saying this is a FOX News, Right Wing  demonstration against government.

There’s more coming out about this reporter and the smear tactics that CNN spreads.  Several other Tea Party protesters  captured more about this reporter and what happened after.

This so called reporter, certainly not a journalist, is the same reporter that spread lies and myths about the “Jena 6″ case in Louisiana, in which 6 black students were charged with beating a white student.

Fascism: the first rule, eliminate dissent.  Rush Limbaugh refers to the Main Stream Media as the Drive By Media and for a very good reason.  They arrive, spray misinformation, then leave skid marks out of the parking lot.

During the Tea Parties, the MSM, especially NBC, used language that was vulgar and demeaning  calling the people attending the Tea Parties as Tea Baggers.  The contempt for the average American Tax Paying voter by the MSM is demonstrated by their bias in reporting stories.

How much of the real story are you getting.  When a event like this happens, where does the newspaper place the story?  On the front page, or buried in the back of the D section of the paper.  Print media, like the MSM televised, are cut from the same cloth.   They are bias in the way the story is reported.

Our Hilo newspaper to its credit, the Tribune-Herald, printed the Tea Party story on the front page, below the fold.  There’s no problem with that, because Hilo has its attention on more important matters.  The Merrie Monarch Festival is taking place here in Hilo and it has pretty much gotten everyone’s attention.  However, there was a strong showing of people supporting the Tea Party to take back our Government.

This guy is only trying to ask questions, just questions, and gets arrested.  Isn’t journalism about asking questions?  Is not asking questions about questionable journalism permitted?

This pretty much sums up the tea parties, freedom of speech, freedom to associate, freedom to demonstrate.  It was a great event and a great historical message to the Obama administration.  Our right as citizens to demonstrate, to voice our displeasure with the government spending our money in corporate bailouts, banks, automobile companies, insurance companies.  If anyone thought the Bush administration was spending too much money at a half a trillion dollars, just look at what 14 Trillion dollars looks like.  It may seem like everything is OK now, but wait a year when it’s time to pay off the borrowing.  Hyper-inflation and taxes will be high and we will feel it bad.

The government has classified people who protest as a possible terrorist Man Made Disasters and Right Wing Extremist.

It’s my attention also.  The Merrie Monarch Festival  is, above all,  the focus of  the celebration of Hula and all things Hawaiian.  It’s like nothing else in Hawai’i and no where else in the world.  Auntie Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium is filled with the greatest Hula Masters from around the world.   We have Hula from Tahiti, New Zealand,  Samoa, and the mainland USA.  Yes, it’s the best of the best.

My God, It’s Full of Debt

Bad debt.   This is far worse than expected and I don’t think the impact is quite sunk into the American public’s mind.  This irresponsible spending is far worse than anything any other president has done before in American history.

The impact is really hard to predict, but it will be felt for years.  Obama is fond of saying he inherited this economy from the Bush administration.  However, his spending plans surpass the Bush deficit by light years.

What Problem?

What’s wrong with this picture?  A few ice cubes in the Antarctic break off some Ice sheet and all hell breaks loose about the oceans.  I wonder if anyone knows what happens when ice cubes melts in water?

An ice bridge which had apparently held a vast Antarctic ice shelf in place during recorded history shattered on Saturday and could herald a wider collapse linked to global warming, a leading scientist said.

A leading scientist says so?  Hmmmm, Really!?  How leading is this… scientist?  And where is he leading?   Like Ice shelves don’t break off during the late summer months in that region of the world.  A 25 mile long strip, by 500 meters (0.3 tenths of a mile), the story tells, has broken off due to Global Warming, or maybe, it’s because it’s the end of their summer down there?   Or a thin strip of Ice fell into the ocean.  Time to Panic.… I guess!!

The Big Crack Up

The Wilkins, now the size of Jamaica or the U.S. state of Connecticut, is one of 10 shelves to have shrunk or collapsed in recent years on the Antarctic Peninsula, where temperatures have risen in recent decades apparently because of global warming.

The Wilkins?  What’s that?  Well the article does not  really get into that until later by explaining that it’s a small ice shelf on Antarctic’s western shelf.  OK, so what significance does that mean?  You know that Icebergs happen in the Arctic as well as the Antarctic.  During their summer months the ice warms, breaks off, then floats away.  It’s been happening for…. many, many years.

A story about a big crack in the Antarctic ice and we have to worry about it, why?

Apparently some ice fell into the ocean, so…. what?  Ice has been falling into the ocean for years.  Icebergs sank the Titanic.  Remember the Ice Ages?  No one was around to remember the ice ages, but they have happened in this planets history.  So have warming cycles occurred on this planet.  There were no SUV’s or coal powered electrical plants back then.

This is so insignificantly small and unremarkable, it’s not even newsworthy.  Yet, the world works in ways no one expects.  Just look at the size of Antarctica and imagine the size.  It’s huge.

So why does the Obama administration want to get into Climate Engineering?

John Holdren told the Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays. Mr. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.

Obviously, this scientist (idiot) watches too many SciFi movies and probably lives in the basement of his mothers house, if not under the attic stairs.  Maybe he’s a crazy uncle that Obama wants to be as his Mad Scientist of the environment.

This place is huge.  There’s more land mass in the Antarctic,  than the Arctic.  Somehow, this is suppose to raise the sea levels.  I live at sea level, there’s no change.   Simple science, put water in a glass and drop in a few ice cubes and let them melt.  Does the water level rise?  No, it doesn’t.  It’s your money that they want.

This novel by Ayn Rand is eerily similar to today’s issues regarding socialism, failure of government, and individual rights.  A stagnating society, a government that demonizes and punishes achievers  leads to strikes against the government.  The Hero, John Galt, believes in a life of laissez-faire capitalism is the only way to live independent from government interference.   Well worth the read.

Hilo

March was one of the wettest in years and coldest that I can remember.  We received 29 inches of rain in March.  According to records, that’s twice the normal amount of rainfall.  For the year to date, we’ve had almost 50 inches of rainfall.  It’s not the kind of rainfall that causes flooding, but a steady rain that causes the usual runoff areas to turn into rivers.

The weather experts tells us that we are in a La Nina effect which means more rain and cooler temperatures.  The average temperatures have been 68 degrees.  Right now it’s 73 degrees with steady trade winds from the east at about 10 miles per hour.  Today we are getting rest from the rain, but not for long.  Forecasts call for more rain in the coming week.

Flying into Kahului Maui the weather was calm, but approaching rain clouds were appearing upcountry towards Makawao.  When ever it rains like this it produces spectacular rainbows.

The 800 pound gorilla in the room reminds me that we haven’t seen the worst of the economy yet.  Now that government is taking over companies, firing CEO’s and bailing out banks.  Now the government wants to manage corporate pay.  The government wants to manage health care.  This is dangerous because the government cannot manage it’s own business.  So far, General Motors is looking at bankruptcy and the Unions are not even making concessions.   The government says that GM’s warranties will be backed up by the government.  My tax dollars going to owners of GM cars.  I don’t own a GM car.  I will never own, again, a GM car.  They SUCK!  Watch, the government will tell GM what kind of cars they can make that people won’t buy.

Well, it’s getting late back to Hilo.  On the way home, I came across this plane in tow.  One of the more interesting things you can come across here in Hawai’i.
