First Look At Lana

A first look at Tropical Storm Lana.  Tropical Storm Lana is strengthening in the Central Pacific and could be a hurricane by tomorrow, but it is still forecast to pass south of the Hawaiian islands early next week.

As of 11 a.m. Hawaii time, the center of the storm was 640 miles southeast of Hilo, and moving west at about 16 miles per hour.  Lana could become a hurricane if it encounters more warm waters.  Although, with maximum sustained winds are about 65 miles per hour, and Lana is expected to weaken from Saturday into Sunday.

We will see more soon

Even though Lana is expected to be weaker as it moves south of the islands, it could bring some slightly increased waves, wind, and rainfall to the Big Island early Sunday.

Lets hope Lana doesn’t take an abrupt turn north anytime soon.

And now for the Video of the Day

It’s that time of the year, again. Batten down and stay safe.

      Aloha Grant,
The rains started yesterday and today’s gonna be a washout. Winds are normal trades, 10-25 MPH. Although the storm looks like its breaking up, the remnants looks to me as heading toward South Point.
