We The People

Happy Birthday Tea Party

Happy Birthday Tea Party.  Your one year anniversary is today.  One year ago no one took you seriously.  Nancy Pelosi still refers to you a Astro-Turf.  Many in government have underestimated you.  All the Lame-Stream Media dismissed you.  The Majority of the American People Embraced you.  You have grown and gained power.  Some have attempted to explain your popularity as a leaderless organization with no direction.  But there is direction, and those that attempt to try and define what they don’t understand are failing to get the point.

From Radio Voice Online via HotAir

Some have claimed the Tea Party is controlled by the Republican party.  You have shown your disdain for both parties uncontrolled spending of the Tax Payers Monies.  Some have even accused you of being racist.

In a speech Wednesday night at the George Washington University, Howard Dean told College Democrats that “the Tea Party is about a generation who grew up in an America where everyone looked like them” and implied that the movement is hostile to President Obama because of his race.

We The People, are for responsible government, less government regulation and lower taxes.  Some politicians, on both sides, are seeing that you are not going away.  That you are growing and gaining strength.  With no clearly defined leader, but yourselves, you are sending a clear message to elected officials all over the country.

We the People, have had enough.  We the People, will hold you elected officials accountable.

Well worth the five minutes of your time to watch this video.  If you ever had any doubts about the danger this country is facing, then watch this video for answers.

Hat Tip: Warning Signs

Here’s an example of Obama patronage:  Obama appointed Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union to the so-called Debt Panel.

First, why do we need a Debt Panel?  We know we are in Debt.  The answer to our debt problems are as plain as the nose on your face.  STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY!!!

Second, Andy Stern, a Union Thug in Chief, on a panel to explore our nation’s economic growth and standard of living being destroyed by this administrations uncontrolled spending.  Are you kidding me?  This is the same person who claimed to be using Power of Persuasion and if that doesn’t work, we’ll use the Persuasion of Power.

Andy Stern is currently under investigation for illegal lobbying activities.

President Obama’s appointment of Service Employee International Union (SEIU) leader Andy Stern to his bi-partisan Debt Panel should raise a major red flag. Stern has an open investigation file into his potentially illegal lobbying activities with the United States Attorney’s office.

Or Else

Equally outrageous, former GM CEO Fritz Henderson has been rehired by the Obama administration as a consultant making, get this, $3,000.00 PER HOUR to run General Government Motors.  The guy is only going to be working about 20 hours per month.  That’s a $60,000 a monthly salary of our tax payer monies.  Where is Obama’s Pay Czar on this?  I thought Obama’s Pay Czar was suppose to regulate the pay of executives that have taken Tax Payer Monies.  GM has Billions of our Tax Payer Monies.  Meanwhile, the current CEO, Ed Whitacre will continue to earn Millions or our Tax Payer monies.

In a regulatory filing submitted by GM this past week, the company has confirmed that Whitacre will now remain as CEO with an annual salary of $1.7 million plus more than $7 million worth of stock payable over the next couple of years.

This is our Tax Payer Monies being pissed away by Obama’s inept government.

Last night an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit Chile which caused a Tsunami wave.  It is due to hit Hawai’i about 11:00 AM HST.  I’m going to be blogging about this all day long, and I’ll try and get more stories and pictures up as soon as possible.

We know at least 150 people in Chile are reported dead due to the earthquake.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Chile.

The eastern side of the Big Island of Hawai’i near the Kalapana shoreline area is at risk.  A Tsunami warning has been issued.  We’re holding our breath.

It’s eerily quiet outside.   Usually we can hear the traffic passing by on Rt. 130.  Nothing.

11:39 AM, Hilo Bay waters are receding now, it’s also seems like the water is moving out quicker as minutes pass.  It’s low tide now, but there’s more rock and coral being exposed.  It has begun.

12:01 PM HST – link to live video feed Waves moving in and out of Hilo Bay.

12:30 PM HST – A better live video link

12:35 PM HST – Local news channel is reporting the worst of the Tsunami is past us and the situation will be continued to be monitored for the next hour.  At that time, they may consider canceling the Tsunami alert.

12:47 PM HST –  Another streaming video link This link has shown Hilo Bay looking at Coconut island and in and around Honolulu on O’Ahu.

1:15 PM HST  – Measurments:

Hilo 2.8 ft 20 minutes

Barbers Pt. 0.6 76 minutes

Kahului 3.2 ft 22 minutes

Pago Pago 2.2 ft in 12 minutes

Surges continue around the islands, but the worst seems to be over.

1:55 PM HST – The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has CANCELED the Tsunami warning for the Hawaiian Islands.  Although there are ocean water surges that continue to cause dangerous conditions in the water.  People are advised to stay out of the water.  Although that warning hasn’t kept people out of the water.

No damage has been reported on any of the islands.  Hilo airport has reopened.  We appear to have dodged a bullet.  However, aftershocks are still present in Chile which could/will continue to make the waters unsafe for the next few hours.  Meanwhile, surf’s up.

3:22 PM HST – Well, what was an interesting day in Paradise.

Finally, What’s for Dinner?

The Chock Full Of Nuts Party

Via AllahPundit @ HotAir

In an effort to compete with the Tea Party movement, a liberal copy cat group calling themselves the Coffee Party.  A vain attempt to parity themselves like that of the Tea Party, this group claims to be a grassroots organization that wants to defend the democratic collective process and to hold accountable those who obstruct  the process.

An original thought?  I doubt it.  After denigrating the Tea Party with derogatory remarks and sexual innuendos, liberals are coming to grips that the Tea Party has Real Power.  The answer is to copy cat the Tea Party with Coffee?

Act of Desperation

Credit to the name, “Chock Full Of Nuts Party” comes from poster “katy” at Hot Air.  Proving that original thoughts start with conservative minds.  Meanwhile, have a good chuckle with the obtuse originality of a Morning Joe.

Summit Of Conceit

Watching the Health-Care Summit this morning, it was painfully obvious that the Democrats, and Obama, were not going to budge from trying to convince Republicans into supporting another multi-Trillion entitlement program.  I would not call it a complete waste of time, but a it was a Dog and Pony Show.

Obama lashed out several times, and cut off speakers off in mid-sentence.  At times he seemed angry.  He lashed out at John McCain saying, “We’re not campaigning any more”.  Arrogant and unwilling to listen to any alternative ideas.  This is Obama on display.  I WON, and don’t you idiots forget it.  Yeah, we know, we lost.  Thanks for reminding us.

The Inquisition Of Toyota

Toyota is under some heat for the acceleration problems with some of their vehicles.  Is the level of criticism fair?

The congressional show-boating that took place was nothing more than a political blustering by the democrats.

It didn’t take long for the finger-pointing to get started:

Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee:

“Toyota had three responses: First, blame the driver. Second, blame the floor mat. Third, blame a sticky gas pedal. And NHTSA — without doing any meaningful independent review — accepted Toyota’s explanations . . . Carmakers have entered the electronics era, but NHTSA seems stuck in a mechanical mind-set.”

Waxman is an escapee troll from the Lord of the Rings that somehow managed to get into Congress.  How, I don’t know.

Maybe it’s because he represents the 30th district of California, that included West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

It’s almost comical the grandstanding some congressional types go to just to get their ugly mugs on television.

Sure, Toyota is on the hot seat.  And rightly so.  Defects that cause tragic results are devastating, not only to the victim, but to the company that will face the litany of lawsuits that will ultimately come about.  But there are millions of Toyota’s out there and they have had a reputation of quality.  Does anyone think Toyota deliberately built flaws into their product?

It’s just the high-level of scrutiny being placed on Toyota by this congress.  It’s a circus.  Every car company has had recalls and safety issues, even tragic results.  What’s different here is the level of attention given by this Congress.

On the way home this evening, I was listening to NPR’s “All Things Considered”.  We have limited radio on this island and I’m a news hound so I listen, reluctantly.

So, the Toyota hearing was being discussed by the NPR News host.  He asked a question about all the attention Toyota is getting, “Why is Toyota getting all this level of negative attention?  Could it be that Toyota is a Japanese company?”, the NPR host went on and asked, “is it because they are not an American company?”

The reason is, Toyota is Non-Union.  However, Toyota has many manufacturing plants in the United States, and they are profitable.  That’s the difference between the Big 3 and Toyota, Honda and other car manufacture’s in the U.S.

So, how much more American can you get?  Toyota is providing jobs in America and this Dog and Pony show by Congress is just a veil attempt to have the Government impose Union Thugs upon the company.

Expect GM to ask for another bail out, soon!

The Government owns General Motors.  The Government wants people to buy General Motors.  The Government, this government, is beholding to Unions.   The United Auto Worker (UAW), like SEIU, are using this administration to push an agenda of total union control of all business in America.

We’re trying to use the Power of Persuasion,

And if that doesn’t work we’ll use The Persuasion of Power

Health Care Scam

“This is my heart, it’s my health, it’s my choice.”

The Single Payer Bunch

This Thursday, 2/25/2010,  is the so-called Health-Care summit at Blair House.  Both Republicans, Democrats and Obama will supposedly sit in a room and hammer out a Health-Care bill that will satisfy, if not be a compromise, that everyone will agree to pass.

Yet, Obama posted his version of the health-care bill on the White House website.  So, I’m asking, what’s the purpose of a health-care debate on Thursday?  If Obama already has a bill written, what will be the agenda of the meeting on Thursday?   What’s the point?

Under the expected Obama plan, regulators would create a competitive marketplace for small businesses and people buying their own coverage. The plan would be paid for with a mix of Medicare cuts and tax increases. It would also strip out special Medicaid deals for certain states, while moving to close the Medicare prescription coverage gap and making newly available coverage for working families more affordable. The changes would cost about $200 billion over 10 years. It’s unclear what the total price tag for the legislation would be; the Senate bill was originally under $900 billion.

This doesn’t make any sense.  Taxes will go up, the cost will exceed a Trillion dollars (count on it), and somehow this will be affordable for working families.   What this is saying is, spending more money will make insurance more affordable.  Does spending more, get you out of debt quicker?  How does this work?  It’s insane.

Where will World Leaders go when we adopt government run socialist policies on health-care?

The quote above in this post, “This is my heart, it’s my health, it’s my choice”, is from Danny Williams, Newfoundland Canada’s Premier.

Mr. Williams said his heart troubles began more than a year ago when his doctor found a heart murmur and sent him for tests. An echogram test revealed a mitral valve regurgitation “which is in fact a leaky valve,” said the Premier, laughing slightly. His cardiologist said his condition was moderate and that it may need a repair or replacement down the road. Another echogram eight or nine months later, before Christmas, elevated his condition from “moderate” to “severe.”

After it was learned that Williams went to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, where patients pay for care, many Canadian health-care providers cried fowl.  Claiming that the same surgery could have been performed in Ottawa.  So why did the Newfoundland Premier for Miami?  Yes, we have people in this country that explore medical tourism, but I think there’s a larger picture that is not being seen here.  There a lots of people coming to this country for critical medical care, and paying for it.  Why is that?

Given the debt this country is in, and the costly proposals this health-care nonsense is taking us, we cannot afford Obama care.  It’s as simple as that.  If there is to be meaningful health-care, then the underlining costs of what makes health-care expensive as it is, needs to be addressed.  It’s not the medical procedures, it’s not the advances in technology, it’s not the Doctors salaries.  It’s not the insurance or pharmaceutical companies.

It’s the government regulations that drive up the cost.  The laws that prevent insurance companies from interstate commerce.  It’s the insurance premiums that Doctors and Hospitals pay to defend themselves against frivolous lawsuits.  Medications are not made in America anymore, they’re made in other countries.   Government has made it harder to conduct business in this country.  This is the reason why jobs have been going overseas.

It just keeps going on and one, never stopping

And what of this Thursday?  Will there be any real reform?
