One of my favorite places just north of Hilo town is the village of Alae. It’s a popular surfing spot with the locals. Everyday you’ll see cars lined up along the sloping road that winds downward to the waters edge. Easy access from Hawai’i Belt road, leaving Hilo northward just past the Alae cemetery, and a quick right turn into Alae.
At a satellite light view of the Big Island, Alae is located on the eastern side of the Big Island just north of Hilo.
A closer view of Alae shows Hawai’i Belt road and Kahoa road that loops around Honoli’i stream.
A closer view where Honoli’i empties into the Ocean.
Then I got this spectacular Ariel view when we flew back from Honolulu.
We have some beautiful waterfalls along the North Hilo coast
