Hawaii’s Dynamic Duo

TheEnergizedPair

It is a historical moment in Hawai’i politics; two native Hawaiian’s running for the two highest offices in the State.  James “Duke” Aiona is running for the governorship, and Elwin Ahu is running for lieutenant governor.  Both are campaigning as Republicans in a heavily democratic state,  Aiona was Hawaii’s lieutenant governor during the Lingle administration for two successful terms, despite working with a hostile democrat House and Senate.

Ahu is a senior Pastor with the New Hope church.  Ahu is running for a return to the framework of the Hawaiian Constitution which has been repeatedly disregarded by liberal democrats in the State Legislature.  Indeed, over the years, the democrats have stopped listening to the Hawaiian people, and have been catering to minority special interests.  In 2011, the legislature adopted to change the rules of beginning the legislative session by dropping the daily invocation.  A tradition that goes deep in the Hawaiian cultural roots, and despite a public outcry, the liberal legislator decided to ignore the people.

People in Hawai’i feel their voices are no longer being heard anymore, and many have stopped voting altogether.  One of the reasons for the low voter turnout is because that Hawai’i has become a one party state.  It is discouraging for most people that don’t get a choice.  Over the years, the progressive democrat party has stopped listening the the people of Hawai’i Nei..

The democrat candidate for U.S.Senate, Brian Schatz, whom was appointed by Governor Neil Abercrombie, barely won the primary election against Colleen Hanabusa.  The liberal democratic party machine made sure the election was in Schatz favor by disfranchising voters on the Big Island of Hawai’i.  After tropical storm Iselle, those residents that lost power, homes, and vehicles due to storm damage, were rushed to vote at the polls.  Many didn’t get a chance to vote because of the political maneuvering by the liberal political machine.  When every vote counts, it is typical for democrats to change the rules to fit their plans to keep control of Hawai’i.

I think this time the democrats have gotten enough people angry enough to change the tide of corruption that for years were owned by liberal democrats.  Abercrombie’s stunning defeat as chronicled by Hawai’i Free Press:

Abercrombie and Progressive Democrats have a vested interest in the results of balloting in Puna – With stunning defeats to Progressive leaders like Abercrombie and Clayton Hee, Brian Schatz stands as the only “Progressive Hero”[1] standing. Furthermore, Brian Schatz[2] is the legacy of Neil Abercrombie who appointed the Progressive against the wishes of the late Senator Inouye and even his own party.  With the political capital that was sacrificed, this is the closest to a ‘bright spot’ that the unpopular governor has left.

Indeed, Abercrombie lost 48 out of 51 districts across the entire state.  So what’s is the message?  Have the people of Hawai’i finally had enough of progressive liberal democrats?

David Ige won the gubernatorial primary from Abercrombie.  So who is David Ige?  Ige, 57, has served in Hawaii’s Legislature for 29 years – 21 in the State Senate and eight in the State House.  Ige is a career politician with little name recognition and achievements.  Obama’s choice was Abercrombie, and Schatz was Abercrombie’s choice; a progressive cronyism that permeates the democrat party by filling seats with party loyalists.  They all vote the progressive democrat party line, and not for the will of the people of Hawai’i.  This is also why the Lingle/Aiona administration won two terms, despite working with a hostile progressive democrat legislature.

Let’s compare the progressive democrat message to the Conservative Republican message.  Let’s start with Brian Schatz campaign message of fear.  Schatz campaign ads were about “Protecting Social Security” for senior citizens.  Yet, no one was talking about social security but Schatz.  A campaign to scare senior citizens using strawman arguments has always been a progressive democrat tactic for votes.  A campaign of fear, uncertainty and doubt has always been the liberal progressive democrat tactic.  Setting up an environment of social division and class warfare has been Obama’s strategy to try and place blame for his lousy policies on someone else, namely Republicans.  Schatz is using the same strategy.

The Ige campaign sounds very much like the same old, same old, progressive promises and policies.  Lofty and without substance.  There’s the same special interest focus on class inequality and the erosion of family values.  There’s the increasing division between our agriculturalism community and the cost of living in Hawai’i.  Ige proposes no real solutions, but plenty of platitudes to carry on the same failed progressives policies.  Ige campaigns on environmental sustainability and income equality, but doesn’t offer any programs on “opportunity equality.”   How can a Hawaii’s economic tourism be sustained by island views choked with windmills?  How will Ige reduce the high cost of food by increasing the regulations on food production by local farmers.  Ige provides no solutions.

Contrast that, with the Lokahi (Unity) message of Aiona, Ahu, Djou and Cavasso are bringing.

First, after tropical storm Iselle, the devastation to the Puna district on the Big Island of Hawai’i was huge.  Duke Aiona was one of the first to arrive on Hawai’i Island to help with the recovery.  Every news story was scrubbed.  I saw it in passing, and booked marked it to capture it for this blog post.  But you cannot find any media mention of Aiona’s visit.  I tweeted a message to Aiona asking about possible media bias because of the election issues in lower Puna.

Duke

Indeed, there was a plethora of stories about Schatz and Hanabusa giving their time to the media  in Puna.  Surely a campaign photo op to self-promote their campaigns.   Here was my response:

I can appreciate  Lt. Governor Aiona’s position.  It says a lot about the character of this man.  It is something that I admired during his time in the Lingle administration.   There was transparency, honesty, fairness, trust and balance of the issues during the Lingle administration.  Yet, the hostility against the Lingle administration by progressive democrats did, and continues, to be a disservice the people of Hawai’i Nei.

Hawai’i has some real unique opportunities, and some real unique problems.  I’ve outlined some of the issues briefly above, but lets examine some of the some important issues that Aiona has addressed.

The homeless problem is getting worse.  Whether by drugs, alcohol, mental issues, cost of housing, or lack of opportunities, the homeless problem is getting worse.  There are other progressive states that are dumping their homeless in Hawai’i Nei.  How else are they getting here?  States with the same problems see Hawai’i as a generous place with abundant healthcare and plenty of warm beaches to sleep on.  Progressive democrats welcomed these people, with no idea how to care for them.

Another truth is, Hawai’i is losing our doctors and healthcare providers.  It’s getting more expensive medically and socially to help those that cannot pay, and for those that can pay.  The Obamacare exchanges have failed.  Abercrombie, and the progressives, that supported Obamacare are now conceding this “single payer” plan is a economic drain to the state.  It’s a failed policy that progressive liberal democrats never bothered to read the bill to find out what’s inside it, [sic] Nancy Pelosi.  What Hawai’i needs to attract Doctors and State of the Art Medical Treatment is an open free-market healthcare system.  Onerous taxes on medical equipment needs to be repealed, just like Obamacare.  Hawai’i has an aging retirement population and a growing younger population.  They deserve the best of care, which we have now, without having to fly to the mainland for medical care.  However, unless there is State leadership to resist a centralized government healthcare system, run by Washington D.C., then the progressive democrat message is, “don’t get sick!”

Hawai’i needs a government that uses conservation policies.  This addresses both environmental and economical needs.  Energy needs cannot be met by littering the landscape with windmills.  It is neither economic, nor is it pleasant to view.  Energy policies need a balance that includes harmony with the ‘Aina, and the economy.

Finally, the worse thing a society can do is to tax food.  This benefits no one, and it especially hurts the poor.  Regulations on local food producers, distributors, and providers only hurts the economy.  It only increases the cost and safety of food production.  That needs to be changed.  Aiona has campaigned on this policy change.  We should all look at sustainability beyond what environmentalist claim as a goal.  We should look at conservation as a method for economic and environmental sustainability.

Environmentalism uses emotion and irrational reaction to solve complex politics.  This leads to excessive government regulations and policies that hurt the poor and the economy.  Hawai’i need better than progressive liberal policies.  They just don’t work!

Happy Admissions Day Hawaii 2014 ! with editorial commentary by Kenneth R. Conklin, Ph.D.

Brave Sir Obama

obama (1)

Brave Sir Obama quickly ran away!

Bravely ran away, away! Oh Sir Obama!

When danger reared its ugly head,

Obama bravely turned his tail and fled!

Yes, brave Sir Obama turned about and gallantly,

he chickened out!

Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat!

Bravest of the brave, Sir Obama!

Bravest of the brave, Sir Obama!

The Blamethrower in Chief, brave sir Obama, continues to blame President George w. Bush for his failing policies.  A coward and a poor excuse for a leader, Obama continues to deny he’s responsible for any of his blunders, domestically and worldwide!

The latest lie from brave sir Obama, is about his campaign promise to withdraw troops from Iraq, and the subsequent slaughter of innocents by Muslim Islamic Terrorists:

The president who spent years touting the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq suddenly has had to distance himself from that action.

At the White House on Saturday morning — less than 48 hours after authorizing airstrikes against Islamist militants and humanitarian air drops to save the lives of trapped Iraqi civilians — President Obama blamed his predecessor, George W. Bush, for the absence of American troops in Iraq and rejected the assertion that he could have left a small peacekeeping force in the war-torn nation.

This is pathetic!  I still cannot believe the American people voted a second term for this bullshit artist.  I guess then it is true, you can fool most of the people, all of the time!  It wasn’t bad enough that brave sir Obama had to finally own up to his lie about Obamacare!

“If you like your doctors, you can keep them!  If you like your health care insurance, you can keep it!”

I guess this is one policy brave sir Obama cannot blame on President George W. Bush, but I’m sure brave sir Obama will try and find a way to do so.

I suppose that’s how democrats work the electorate; lie and continue to lie, over and over, until people believe it!  Apparently, you must prove you can lie convincingly in order to be in the Socialist Democrat Party.

Brave sir Obama reminds me of  “the Right Ordinary Horatio Jackson, from the movie “Baron Munchausen” where in the Age of Reason, all reason ceases to exist.   Brave sir Obama continues to claim we are not at war with the Islamic state.  I guess that’s why we’re bombing them now?!  Airstrikes in Iraq: What you need to know – Whitehouse Blog

Then again, democrats are great a making stuff up about stuff.  Along with a lazy corrupt news media that parrots the democrats claims of inequality.  Gender inequality, Class Inequality, Race Inequality, Wealth Inequality, and the list goes on and on.  It’s a deflection away from real issues facing Americans, like Opportunity Inequality! Democrats are now whining about companies leaving America because of our draconian tax rates, calling corporations that leave unpatriotic!  If you are going to punish corporations for making a profit, creating jobs and growing business, then what else can they do?

Well America, you voted for the government you got!  You’ve got another two more years to live with this mess you voted for.  Now let’s hope you vote for Hillary Clinton, so she can finish the job that brave sir Obama started.
