Madeline approached as a category 3 hurricane.  By the time the storm reached the Big Island it had downgraded to a category 1, and then a tropical storm.  Winds were strong, but not damaging.  Rain was heavy, and some flooding did take place.  Overall, the storm has not fully passed fully by yet, but the worse seems to be over.

Right behind Madeline is Lester, and Lester is a category 4 hurricane.  It has picked up speed and will be here sooner than expected.  Hopefully, a repeat of Madeline will occur with Lester.  We will see and I will keep you informed.

We flew out of Kona on Wednesday night–other than some clouds and higher humidity you’d never have know that Madeline was in town.

It looks like Lester’s tracking north and will spare Hilo other than high surf and more rain (just what you need).

    Stay safe.
