“So you are saying, by not having babies born, we are going to save money on health care?”
The testimony of a Georgetown College Co-ed, Sandra Fluke, regarding contraception has brought a new level of disingenuousness by the Socialist Democrats. After listening to her testimony, I can only come to the conclusion that she was a deliberate plant to further inject birth control into the political discourse. It was Obama that declared that birth control would be provided “free-of-charge” by employers and insurance companies. It was against the religious beliefs of many people, so Obama said, OK, then only insurers have to provide contraception. Who pays for the insurance? It’s the same thing.
Sandra Fluke’s testimony had some really outrageous claims. Going broke paying for contraception; women getting raped and believing they had no recourse; getting cancerous tumors because of no contraception; basically a laundry list of sob stories and why religious institutions must pay for her contraception.
Sandra Fluke is a student at Georgetown Law. She’s also a “reproductive rights activist” who agrees wholeheartedly with the Obama administration’s controversial contraceptive mandate. Her reasoning, though, is likely to enrage some critics.
During a testimony in front of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee on Monday (a meeting that was held by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi), Fluke — who was coincidentally the only witness heard — described the financial constraints that purchasing birth control puts on her peers.
“Forty percent of the female students at Georgetown Law reported to us that they struggled financially as a result of this policy,” Fluke said, referring to the fact that the university doesn’t pay for contraception. “Without insurance coverage, contraception, as you know, can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school.”
She detailed, among other stories, how one woman felt “embarrassed” and “powerless” at the pharmacy counter when she “learned for the first time” that contraceptives weren’t covered by the university’s health care plan.
CNS News’ Craig Bannister, though, challenged Fluke’s $3,000 figure and came up with some pretty interesting numbers: $3,000 for birth control in three years? That’s a thousand dollars a year of sex — and, she wants us to pay for it. […] At a dollar a condom if she shops at CVS pharmacy’s website, that $3,000 would buy her 3,000 condoms — or, 1,000 a year… Assuming it’s not a leap year, that’s 1,000 divided by 365 — or having sex 2.74 times a day, every day, for three straight years. And, I thought Georgetown was a Catholic university where women might be prone to shun casual, unmarried sex. At least its health insurance doesn’t cover contraception (that which you subsidize, you get more of, you know).
This isn’t the first time Fluke has made her voice heard in the halls of Congress. Earlier this month, it was reported that Democrat Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Eleanor Norton (D-DC) and their anger over the lack of female witnesses present at a previous contraceptive hearing.
The congresswomen wanted Fluke to be permitted to speak at the event, but Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) declined to allow it, stating that Fluke was not an expert in religious freedom, which was the issue being investigated.
Fluke, though, responded by claiming that women should be included in the discussion. She also alleged that a friend of hers died because of a lack of access to contraception and accused Issa of silencing the people who have the most authority to speak on the subject.
Contraception is easily available through many sources. Planned Parenthood is one source that will supply contraception. The example she used in her testimony is absolutely either false or just the worse case of personal responsibility. However, I think there is something else that no one is considering. It’s to distract from Obama’s abysmal record.
Obamacare is unconstitutional. The Socialist Democrats know that. Nazi Piglosi knows that. That’s why the Socialist Democrats want more power over you. They know that Obama cannot get reelected on his record, so they are creating a non-issue to deflect from Obama’s abysmal record of policy failures. By non-issue I mean it is not a national issue that deserves to be apart of the dialog for either the Presidential or State elections. It is an important issue for people of faith because it violates their consciences, and it’s not just Catholics, it’s all religions that find contraception objectionable. I find it objectionable for the same reasons, including the First Amendment establishment clause. It is simply unconstitutional.
No one is denying contraception to either women or men. What Obama is saying is that it has to be made free-of-charge. Other than the air we breathe, nothing is for free. This is disguised as social justice. They are saying that I must pay for free contraception. However, contraception is available everywhere, and in some places it is free. The government practically gives it away. So why is this becoming an issue? It’s a deflection away from Obama’s and the Socialist Democrats failed policies. While everyone is distracted with this non-issue, our soldiers are getting killed because of Obama apology to the Afghans who desecrating their own book. This regime is spending trillions of tax dollars on failed green energy projects. This regime is destroying American jobs, and we are fixated on contraception?
Of course, anyone who heard former Presidential candidate Obama utter his “that’s above my pay grade” answer to Reverend Rick Warren’s question as to “when a baby gets human rights” – either had their head in the sand – or was no friend of children in the womb themselves.
President Obama has selected Catholics to serve in his administration who openly defy their own Church. Now, as if that wasn’t bad enough, all of the subterfuge and sophistry which has surrounded his promise to honor religious liberty and respect freedom of conscience in the implementation of his “Affordable care Act” has been unmasked.
“The Obama administration has drawn an unprecedented line in the sand. In effect, the president is saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences. To force American citizens to choose between violating their consciences and forgoing their healthcare is literally unconscionable. In effect, the president is saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences. To force American citizens to choose between violating their consciences and forgoing their healthcare is literally unconscionable.” (Cardinal Designate Dolan, Abp of New York, President, USCCB)
Rush Limbaugh gets demonized for speaking the truth about this slut that parades herself in front of the public and smugly makes unsubstantiated claims about contraception and women’s health. If Limbaugh’s sponsors think by pulling their ads from his show is going to make me run out and get a sleep comfort mattress, they are fooling themselves. Perhaps they can give a mattress to Sandra Fluke since she probably has worn out her bed from all the sex she having. Are the parents of this slut proud of her? Maybe they are, I don’t know. Seriously, what did she think was going to happen? Did she think no one would question her testimony? Did she think throngs of women would come to her defense?
I know there are going to be people, women in particular, that will defend Sandra Fluke. They will chastise anyone and claim you are being misogynistic towards women. They will claim that a woman has a economic disadvantage. They will claim that this is all about woman’s health concerns. Affordable access to healthcare. Really? Under Obamacare, you won’t have any choice, you won’t have any healthcare freedoms. Under Obamacare’s death panels, that cystic on your ovaries might not be covered. If the panel of government healthcare overseers determines that you, the woman, are no longer of any revenue value (taxable capability), you’ll be denied the operation you need to survive. Obamacare might either give you a pill, or the option to end your life. That is the reality of Obamacare. So this whole argument of women’s reproductive rights is a farce. Obamacare might provide you with the morning after pill, but if they determine the cost of your health is not worthy of the money spent, you will be given another alternative. One that probably will not be to your benefit.
It doesn’t matter if her testimony was either about herself or others, what matters is her insistence that a religious college pay for contraceptive services. What matters is Obama has said contraception must be supplied free-of-charge. What matters is that no one is talking about the sex partner, why isn’t the sex partner helping to pay for their own contraception? What matters is Obamacare will force you to either purchase a product or the government will penalize you. It has nothing to do with economics, it has everything to do with religious freedom. It has nothing to do with women’s health, it has everything to do with promiscuity.
The Blog College Conservative has weighed in with an appropriate rebuttal to Sandra, “the spokeswoman for all of Georgetown”, Fluke. It is well worth the read!
Sandra Fluke doesn’t speak for me. Or for Georgetown.
She doesn’t speak for those of us who worked hard to be able to choose to come to a great institution with a great tradition of faith and scholarship. She certainly can’t speak for the Jesuits who dedicated their lives to God and Education with a long established set of rules. There are only ten of them, and Ms. Fluke would do well to give them a quick read.
Funny how the same side that cries “Get your rosaries off my ovaries” is the same side saying, “on second thought…please pay for me to have all the sex I want!” The people who espouse “pro-choice” “values” are the same people who say religious institutions have no right to choose.
They are struggling financially, Sandra Fluke says to pay for their contraception. Well then, charge for the sex you are having. That’s your solution Sandra Fluke. Become a working girl and charge people for all the sex you are having with them. Then you can pay for your contraception yourself. You might even have enough money left over to pay your way through college. Maybe even buy some new clothes and shoes. Be an entrepreneur, a business person and provide for yourself. It is insulting to me that this whore will tell me that I have to pay for her contraception. So she can spread her legs to every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes along. No one is denying her right to prostitute herself. Just be aware it might be against the law.
My parents chose life over selfishness, and therefore….I have a say!!!
The song at the end is Matt Maher’s “Isaiah 61”
But the absurdities’ don’t end here. Kathleen Sebelius, Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services and brain fart, tried to make the claim that a decrease in human beings will cover the cost of contraception. WHAT??? During a House hearing Sebelius insisted that the mandate “upholds religious liberty”. So by forcing people to pay for a product they don’t want and find morally objectionable, that’s liberty?
You have to wonder if Sebelius is either on drugs, or she thinks that you are that stupid to believe the garbage spewing out of her pie-hole. Here’s a portion of the exchange:
During the subcommittee hearing, Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) said that contraception provided by insurance companies to people employed by religious organizations under the future form of the rule Sebelius described would not be was not free.
“Who pays for it? There’s no such thing as a free service,” Murphy asked.
Sebelius responded that that is not the case with insurance.
“The reduction in the number of pregnancies compensates for cost of contraception,” Sebelius answered.
Murphy expressed surprise by the answer.
“So you are saying, by not having babies born, we are going to save money on health care?” Murphy asked.
Sebelius replied, “Providing contraception is a critical preventive health benefit for women and for their children.”
Murphy again sought clarification.
“Not having babies born is a critical benefit. This is absolutely amazing to me. I yield back,” he said.
Equally as disappointing are the political candidates climbing aboard the SS Condom and wag their finger of shame at Rush Limbaugh. The ship of fools is eager to get off topic and get suckered into an issue that has no national bearing. Speaker John “crybaby bonehead” Boehner condemns Rush Limbaugh as does Rick Santorum who called Limbaugh absurd. IDIOTS!! Instead of talking about Obama’s failed policies, the bad economy, the high unemployment and high gas prices, they’d rather sail off into the sea of irrelevancy. Good luck defeating Obama in November.
It is so disappointing to see our side getting in the mud with the “democRats”. The “democRats” have successfully placed a ring in the noses of the GOP and are leading them around like donkeys. The democrats have kept the candidates off message by creating a false issue that takes away from other priorities. The GOP is campaigning for Obama’s reelection. Even Mitt Romney agrees with the individual mandate (if you thought Romney was going to repeal Obamacare, you are wrong), he even wrote a oped in USA today explaining how his version of Romneycare will work for Obamacare. You can read it here!
