King Kamehameha Day

Today, June 11th, is King Kamehameha day.  On the Big Island of Hawai’i (Moku o Keawe), in Hilo city, a celebration was held at Moku Ola (Coconut Island), where it is held every year.  Although, celebrations are held on all the islands, Hilo is closest to us.  A pictorial presentation of the event.

It is a family day with food, Hula, and music.

Tommy “Kahikina” Ching, aka “The Polynesian Pirate”, was there as assistant master of ceremonies along with a host of musicians.

The Festivities took place at Moku Ola, also know as Coconut Island.  Located off of Banyan drive near the Nani Loa and Hilo Bay hotel.

There is a walkway bridge that stretches to the island from Queen Lili’uokalani Park
