National Purple Heart Day

National-Purple-Heart-Day

Aloha kākou. Today is National Purple Heart Day. On this day we commemorate all the wounded heroes still with us and those that gave their lives for their fellow countrymen. We will be forever in their debt and grateful for their service to our country.

A Message From President Donald J. Trump:

On Purple Heart Day we pay solemn tribute to our Wounded Warriors and Fallen Heroes. These immortal patriots shed their blood, and many gave their lives, to defend our flag, families, and freedom. May we honor their sacred memory by protecting all that they sacrificed to secure. God bless our men and women in uniform, the greatest heroes in all the world.

The greatest Commander in Chief since Ronaldus Magnus. The Purple Heart is the Oldest Military Award Still Presented to American Service Members. Originally designated by President George Washington as the Badge of Military Merit, it was a cloth purple heart. Later it was evolved into what we now know as the Purple Heart. It was Army Gen. Douglas MacArthur that gave the Purple Heart its official modern-day look and name in 1932.

In 1942, Army Lt. Annie G. Fox became the first woman to receive a Purple Heart for her heroic actions during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Fox, who was serving as the chief nurse at Hickam Field, Hawaii, remained calm throughout the attack on Pearl Harbor and her hospital, and successfully directed hospital staff to tend to the wounded as they came in from the harbor. More about the Purple Heart can be found here.

Other famous Purple Heart recipients include actors such as James Arness, Charles Bronson, James Garner, Rod Serling, writers Kurt Vonnegut and Oliver Stone, athletes Warren Spahn, Pat Tillman, Rocky Bleier, and even animals Sgt. Stubby the dog and Sgt. Reckless the horse.

Not surprisingly, not a word from Jim Crow Joe and the Marxist democrats. They’re too busy with their RINO’s buddies trying to pass laws to economically further damage the county.

The International Space Station (ISS) is going to pass overhead tonight. It will pass at 7:52 PM HST. It will become visible for 5 min, at a max height of 69°. The ISS will appear 10° above NW and disappears 22° above south southeast. I’m hoping that the cloud cover will dissipate enough to catch a good view of the ISS. Forecasts predicts the cloud cover will drop to 31% this evening, but conditions can change rapidly in Hawai’i. So, we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed.
