Reflections

A week before Christmas, there were terrible storms that hit Hawai’i.  Huge amounts of rain and lots of lightning everywhere.  We lost power for over 5 hours.  Thank god I bought that generator.  It sure came in handy when it started getting dark outside..  We were luckier than others though, it was days before for some people got their power back.  I monitored the storm track through NOAA’s website up until we lost power.

I had to dump the water gauge three times.  It only holds 5 inches of water.  I suspect we had almost 18 inches of rain during the storm.  The storm continued into the night and finally broke just before dawn.

On the way to Hilo, I got this picture of Mauna Kea with several inches of fresh snow.  It’s always amazing to me that we get snow on this tropical island.  In Hawaiian, this is the time when Poli’ahu, the goddess of the snow, comes to visit.  She didn’t stay long either, but just long enough to make her presence known.

A close up of the observatories atop of Mauna Kea shows the scale of the amount of snow.  Just a few inches to a dusting.  However, there have been times when several feet of snow have fallen on the mountain.  Sometimes people drive up to the mountain’s summit, scoop up some snow, and bring it back down to Hilo for kids to play with.

It is a breathtaking sight to watch rain out on the ocean as it approaches the island.  It’s almost like watching time is in slow motion while anticipating the rains eventual arrival.  No sooner does the rain arrive, it’s gone and the sun comes out to warm the earth.

It’s smooth sailing from here on now.  Or is it?  As Christmas passes and the end of the year looms over the next few days, there are questions about our future.

Congress has a funny way of gift giving.  Higher taxes for all.

Government health care.  More like a lump of coal in the voters stockings.  If anyone has followed the money, this health care bill is going to be one bad prescription for the American people.  Island legislators are piling on with proposals to reduce our standard of living by trying to ban plastic bags again.  This time they saying that this is not a ban, but a reduction of plastic bags.  That’s like saying drinking and driving is not really drinking if you only take small sips.

And Now, Reason #43 Why Environmentalists are Nutcases

In their unfortunately titled book Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living, New Zealanders Robert and Brenda Vale — self-described specialists in sustainable living at Victoria University in Wellington — charge that the carbon paw-print of a pet dog is double that of an SUV driving 6,200 miles a year, while a pet cat has an eco claw-print slightly less than driving a Volkswagen Golf for a year. Confirming these results, John Barrett of the Stockholm Environment Institute in York, Britain, said, “Owning a dog really is quite an extravagance.” Pets’ detrimental impact on the environment is not limited to their carbon footprint, the Vales insist; if permitted to roam, predatory dogs and cats devastate wildlife (squirrels, birds, frogs) while their fecal matter spreads bacteria and disease in rivers and streams, killing aquatic life.

Yet, no mention of rats.  Only the environmental zealot with a bizarre sense of reasoning could reason this nonsense.  Obviously, these people need to stop watching the SciFi channel and disaster movies.  It’s like they cannot distinguish the difference between fantasy and reality.

That’s what Hugo Chavez said about Capitalism at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.  Many of the the worlds socialists came to Copenhagen to declare man made global warming is fueled by capitalism.  That’s a lot of hot air going around in Europe.  It’s a sign that desperate communists are using the environment to further their agenda.  It is clear that communists are blaming capitalism for changes in the world climate.

As Hugo Chavez spoke to several thunderous standing ovations about the evils of capitalism and claiming that socialism the path to real freedom.  Socialism and Freedom are mutually exclusive oxymoron’s.  Yet when you get a room full of socialist thugs that rob their own people of their freedoms and proclaiming to be protectors of the environment, you can only come to one startling conclusion:

A Little Warmth Would Be Nice at the Socialist Love Fest

How ironic is it that the summit in Copenhagen would have serious blizzard dumping 4 inches of snow.  Temperatures have been hovering in the mid-20’s making the maritime country of Denmark as cold as its Scandinavian neighbors.  A white Christmas hasn’t been seen in Denmark for over 14 years.   There is plenty of heat though.  The communists have been clashing with police and making it known what their real agenda is all about.

I’d laugh at all this foolishness, but then I remind myself that here in this country the Obama administration is using the EPA  to subvert American Exceptionalism  and remove our sovereignty.  By declaring  CO2 as a pollutant, the EPA would have the power to regulate industry.  In a economic recession, this uncertainty only promotes industry to take a wait and see what regulations will effect their business.  Thus furthering stagnate unemployment.

New regulations driven by the finding could be years away. But unless superseded by congressional action, the EPA ruling eventually could lead to stricter emissions limits. Businesses that stand to be affected range from power plants and oil refineries to car makers and cement producers.

Uncertainty about the impact of such regulation is already affecting some companies. Consol Energy Inc., a big coal and energy company based in Pittsburgh, says it is delaying two large mining projects in Northern Appalachia because of uncertainty around pending carbon emission regulation.

“In terms of starting to move dirt, we would postpone that until there’s some clarity,” said Thomas Hoffman, vice president of investor relations.

Carbon Dioxide is an essential life giving gas and is not a pollutant.  Plants use CO2 as food, we eat some of those plants.  That’s our food.  We breath oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.  Will the EPA regulate breathing?

This is all an effort to fleece the American people of their money.  A huge wealth redistribution based on a hoax.

It’s becoming increasing apparent that the Global Warming crowd and the Population Control crowd have a common goal.  That is to control other peoples lives.  These Eco-Nazi’s have created an atmosphere of fear that the earths resources are being used up by too many people and their activities are causing the planet to warm excessively is simply false.  There is a preponderance of observations to dispute both claims of anthropogenic conditions.  However, since fear is a powerful emotion, it is easier to frighten people into believing something that either has not been proven or is outright fiction.

The relationship between the two groups, Global Warming and Over Population, have during a period of time used the same arguments to press their case for regulating human activity.  Like some Hollywood disaster movie, they back their reasoning through the use of science.  Increasingly, using theoretical data, yet unproven data, to declare a consensus among scientists.  But who are these scientists?  How did they gather their data?  What methods did these scientists use to verify their data?  How does this relate to over-population?

Why do they, the Global Warming Scientists, refuse to answer questions about the data?

Journalist Phelim McAleer (‘Mine Your Own Business’, ‘Not Evil Just Wrong’) asks Prof Stephen Schneider from Stanford University an Inconvenient Question about ‘Climategate’ emails. McAleer is interrupted twice by Prof Schneider’s assistant and UN staff and then told to stop filming by an armed UN security guard.  Resorting to strong-arm tactics, anyone that questions the validity of the data Global Warming Scientists have presented will be subject to arrest, ridicule and condemnation.  Questions have been met with accusations of being a flat-earth believer.  Questions have been dismissed as extremism.  Yet, the Global Warming hysteria persists.

Climategate, that recent event in the news that casts a shadow of doubt on those scientists that advocate Global Warming as real and settled data.  Papers that were denied peer review because they did not fit the narrative of the consensus.  Emails that clearly showed there was a conspiracy among some scientists to falsify facts to make Global Warming a serious problem.

The documents show that these scientists have been fabricating, cherry-picking, fudging, hiding, destroying, and otherwise abusing data; intimidating dissenting scientists and journal editors who might publish their work; filtering out dissenting research from the information reviewed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and by climate change agencies of national and state or provincial governments around the world; and violating Freedom of Information laws and scientific journal policies about data sharing and transparency-hallmarks of proper scientific method.

This makes other institutions of Climate observations suspect also:  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NASA’s Goddard Institute, are they also corrupt?   James Hanson, NASA’s warming scientist and close ally to Vice-President Al Gore, has promoted man-made global warming and used his data to spread fear of global catastrophe’s.   Hanson has gone on record urging trials against those who dissent against man-made global warming.  Effectively muzzling any challenge to his claim of looming environmental disaster as caused by man.  It reminds me of how Galileo was brought before The Inquisition for his belief in Heliocentrism:

I see parallels to Galileo experience when compared to Phelim McAleer experience in asking a question about questionable data on global warming.  If you don’t like the question, eliminate the questioner.   Chief architect in the Global Warming religion is Al Gore.  We know Al Gore has positioned his Global Warming alarm-ism into a business model that will reap billions of dollars for him and at the expense of others:

Mr. Gore and his cohorts have consistently smeared climate realists and policy skeptics as “deniers,” paranoiacs or corporate shills. “Denier” invokes Holocaust denial. Paranoia is linked to those conspiracy theorists who claim that Neil Armstrong’s lunar landscape was really a movie backlot. The corporate shill angle is usually based on “exposing” some skeptical individual’s or organization’s link to Big Oil, which is in fact irrelevant unless you judge science on the basis of funding rather than objectivity. Oil companies in fact devote far more money to supporting climate hysteria.

One of Al Gore’s arguments was the hockey stick jump in global warming temperatures.  Since then that has been proven to be bad mathematics and poor science.  Yet, Al Gore lied and promoted the lie to such a state that anyone challenging the lie was vehemently dismissed as a denier.

So how does this relate to over-population and global warming.

It’s all about the environment.

Alarmist are already saying that the reason for global warming is caused by man.  Anthropogenic interference is hurting the planet.  With no data to support that theory, the over-population alarmist creates a climate of pending disaster and world-wide cataclysmic events.  A violent upheaval that causes great destruction or brings about a fundamental change to the planet.  Even now, there are those in high government positions that can influence legislation to control the lives of people.  The plot thickens when David Rockefeller gives a speech about over population. In this video, you will hear and see him discussing how the U.N. should sustain the population.

The thought of some government agency controlling the world’s population is absurd, but it is being considered.  All under the theory that too many people will consume too many resources and will facilitate a disaster.  Sounds like a Hollywood move in the making.  But this is real and scary when you consider that world leaders are seriously considering this as a solution to a problem that doesn’t exists.

A planetary law, such as China’s one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.

“Dealing with climate change is not simply an issue of CO2 emission reduction but a comprehensive challenge involving political, economic, social, cultural and ecological issues, and the population concern fits right into the picture,” said Zhao, who is a member of the Chinese government delegation.

Many studies link population growth with emissions and the effect of climate change.

Anyone in their right mind would never consider an act that would limit the number of children a family could have, but in China, they already have a one child policy.  The culture in China is to produce a first born male child.  Females are not given the same reverence as males children and are usually either discarded or given up for adoption.  So what you’re left with is a over-population of males in a society with very little females to go around.  That is the kind of manipulation that will form anarchy in any society.

Let’s not forget that Obama has in key cabinet positions zealots of population control.  John Holdren and Cass Sunstein are just two of Obama’s whacked-out CZAR’s that promote population control and extreme environmental regulation.

I have an Idea

It’s all about control in the end isn’t it.

I recently read an op-ed article by Sarah Palin on Climategate:

This scandal obviously calls into question the proposals being pushed in Copenhagen. I’ve always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics. As governor of Alaska, I took a stand against politicized science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population had more than doubled. I got clobbered for my actions by radical environmentalists nationwide, but I stood by my view that adding a healthy species to the endangered list under the guise of “climate change impacts” was an abuse of the Endangered Species Act. This would have irreversibly hurt both Alaska’s economy and the nation’s, while also reducing opportunities for responsible development.

Palin is right on by stating that the climate does change. Also, Palin questioned how much human activity is responsible for climate change as debatable.  I’m still waiting on the facts to be presented on how humans manipulate world-wide climate changes.  Anthropogenic climate change is still not proven and any data presented is severely flawed, if not absolutely fabricated.  Again, I ask, present the data for debate.  That has yet to be done.

There is one scientific fact, and that is Anthropogenic Grifting.  Lot’s of people are in line to make lots of money through government taxation and vaporous carbon regulations.  It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Science is always a Debate.

There is never a Consensus.

Otherwise it is not Science.

To distort a quote from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano , Global Climate Change is a Man-Made Disaster.  Which is masking the issue like re-gifting Christmas as Winter Solstice.  It’s bad religion anyway you look at it.  Only government regulation and interference will hurt the environment by reducing the standard of living we enjoy today.  The environment is also a way of life.  Prosperity and economic growth can work with issues of protecting the environment.  Not regulating the lives of people through birth control, what car you can drive, how you heat your house and what food you can eat.  This is the politics of fear which the environmentalist and over-population alarmist are using to enact laws to control your lives.

Obama keeps yammering on about responsibility, yet his administration is filled with the most irresponsible people in government.  None of his CZAR’s or cabinet positions are qualified for the job.  For that matter, neither is Obama.

Obama’s Job Summit : Why Employers Aren’t Hiring

When Obama holds a Job Summit and invites Union Executives and Academics along with some business owners, you have to ask, “were the right people invited?”   Most of these people are were big contributors to Obama’s candidacy.   But, who was missing from the Job Summit?  The Chamber of Commerce.

Both the United States Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business were not invited to share their ideas at the event featuring 133 guests.

Both groups oppose the cap and trade climate change legislation on Capitol Hill as well as the Democrats’ health care reform proposals, which led to a public dispute between the USCC and the administration earlier this fall.

Employers are not going to hire when Cap-n-Tax and the Health Care remain unsettled.  How will the employer be able to forecast what their business needs will be when costs are uncertain?  There’s just too many questions about how the government will interfere with how business operates.   Why would any employer even bother to hire people if the company cannot predict a profit margin?  Companies live and die on profit.  Without profit, you die.  Unless, of course, the government finds you too big to die and gives you beaucoup tax dollars as part of an economic stimulus.  Even then, with all that tax payer cash, there’s no guarantee of success.  What then?

The employer is asking questions:

How much will Health Care cost my business?

How much will the Government tax my business?

Until these questions are answered, no one will be Hired.

The real answer to job growth is less government involvement.  Reduction or elimination of Capitol Gain taxes.

The Job Summit was nothing more than a photo opportunity for Teh Won, the Obama.  Nothing of real value came out of the Job Summit.  A  Waste Of Time and Energy.  The real things that create job growth are not being discussed, not even considered.  But the Obama, doesn’t care about job growth.  Only the growth of government.
