Ala Hou

PalmBranches

Aloha Lāpule, Kominika o nā Lālā Lāʻau. Today is Palm Sunday, Easter is only one week from today. Ka lā i ala hou ai ka Haku.

Palm Sunday is the Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. Movable on the calendar to fall on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Its name originates from the palm branches waved by the crowd to greet and honor Jesus as he entered the city.

This scene from “The Chosen” series is powerful. As written in the Bible by John verses 3:16 where Jesus explains to Nicodemus the purpose of his arrival and mission on this earth. This series has captured my attention and I’ve binged watched this series in its entirety. There have been three seasons and seasons four is now filming to be released later this year. The series is designed to be as biblically accurate as possible. You don’t need to be a Christian to enjoy the story. That’s the magic of this show.

I highly recommend watching this series in the order it was produced. It’s easy to understand and follow. It’s not a religious conversion show. It’s about the life of Jesus over two thousand years ago. It explores the lives of the Apostles and their lives following Jesus. It’s very well made and compelling in how the director composes the lives of these people experiences. Ala hou means resurrection and perhaps the beginning of a new renaissance, or rebirth of religious values according to the Bible. I hope so.

Damsel and I have watched all three of “The Chosen” seasons and looking forward to the fourth season (of seven, I believe). We’re currently watching the “Gospel of Matthew.” There are four of these (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) where characters act out scenes as read from the New Testament Gospels.
